Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY REGISTRATION?

  • Each registration purchase includes one spot in your chosen course and a South West Mudfest event t-shirt. The t-shirt sizing is based on a first in best dressed basis when you check-in on event day.

HOW DO I GET TO THE SOUTH WEST MUDFEST?

  • Bootleg Brewery is located on Puzey Road, Wilyabrup – approximately a 3 hour drive south of Perth.
  • Have a look on Google Maps for directions on how to get there.

WHERE DO I PARK?

  • Parking will be available in one of the paddocks at Bootleg Brewery, off Puzey Road, just a short distance from the Event Village, for a gold coin donation to local South West sporting clubs.
  • If you choose to drive, we recommend carpooling and appointing a skipper in advance.
  • For more information on parking, please head to Get Prepared.

HOW WILL THE WAVE TIMES WORK?

  • To avoid over-crowding on the course and to provide everyone with the best experience, participants will be divided into staggered starting waves.
  • Waves will start in 10-minute intervals to spread competitors across the course and prevent queues at obstacles.
  • When registering you will be asked to select your preferred start wave time.
  • Waves are allocated on a first in best dressed basis. If you want to change your wave time, simply log back into your Active Ticketing account to change your registration.

WILL THERE BE A BAG DROP?

  • Straight after you register, you will be able to drop your valuables (keys, phone and wallet only) at our manned valuables drop for a gold coin donation to local sporting clubs.
  • You can then drop your towel and a bag of clean clothes on the shelves in the changerooms.
  • Please note that while we will have security, all items are left in the change rooms at your own risk. Event management takes no responsibility for lost or stolen property

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

  • Prepare to get down and dirty! Old clothes are the best bet when dealing with mud, don’t wear your Sunday best!
  • We will have a ‘muddy bin’ at the finish line if you would prefer to dispose of your outer layer of clothing once you have completed the course.
  • We require all participants to wear fully enclosed shoes when out on course.
  • Prizes are up for grabs for the best dressed, so be creative!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

  • Your confirmation email – either printed out or displayed on your phone.
  • Clean clothes + a towel for after your HOT shower.
  • A plastic bag for your muddy clothes.
  • Photo ID for your beer/cider.
  • A gold coin donation for both the valuables drop & parking.
  • Cash for a delicious coffee, tasty food or a thirst-quenching beer, and for any on the day registrations, if not sold out prior.
  • A leash and doggy bags if you’re participating in the Muddy Paws Challenge.
  • A big smile and a fun attitude… time to get muddy!!

WILL THERE BE SHOWERS?

  • YES! After you cross the finish line, pause for a photo then run straight on in to the hot showers!
  • We will also have a hosing area to wash off your dogs.
  • We don’t want Bootleg brewery covered in mud, so it is compulsory to be clean before you enter the brewery.

WILL THE SOUTH WEST MUDFEST BE TIMED?

  • No, the South West Mudfest is not a timed event. Our stance is that the Mudfest is a fun challenge, not a race. So don’t be too concerned about speeding around the course, take your time and have fun!
  • Think you can slide and climb through that mud fast enough? Register for our 8:30am wave and be the first across the line to be awarded the first in male or female – results will not be based on official timing.

WILL THERE BE FOOD AVAILABLE?

  • Yes! Not only will Bootleg Brewery be serving their mouth-watering brews and ciders be on tap on the day, they’ll also be serving up delicious range of gourmet foods fit for a king and all his fussy children.
  • The restaurant will not be taking bookings for the day of the event, so just pop on in.

DO I NEED TO SIGN A WAIVER?

  • Yes, registering for the event involves agreeing to our Terms and Conditions, Rules Of The Mud & our Event Policy.
  • When registering for the Muddy Paws Challenge you will also be agreeing to our Muddy Paws Challenge Policy.
  • Please note that all children 14 years and under must run the entire course with an accompanied registered guardian and all children from ages 15 to 18 must have a parent guardian waiver signed upon registration.

CAN MY KIDS RUN?

  • Yes! We don’t call ourselves the mud run for everyone for no reason!
  • Our Mud Mayhem and Muddy Paws Challenge course is recommended for ages 9+ years and our Kids Course is recommended for children aged 5+ years. Bearing this in mind, we understand no one knows your child better than you, so we ask parents to please use their better judgement when registering their child and working out whether your child is ready for their first muddy obstacle race!
  • Please note that all children 14 years and under must run the entire course with an accompanied registered guardian and all children from ages 15 to 18 must have a parent guardian waiver signed upon registration.
  • For the Kids Course, children can participate on their own or they can run with their parents (if they think they can keep up)! Please remember parents will need to purchase a separate registration as well as their child.

WILL THERE BE ANY ENTERTAINMENT?

  • We want to create a festival experience to celebrate the love of mud!
  • You can expect a DJ in the Event Village At Bootleg Brewery plus a children’s playground and lots of muddy good times.

  • We ask all parents to pay close attention to their children when participating on our water-based obstacles.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE?

  • We have three pricing strategies for our Mud Mayhem and Muddy Paws Challenge courses – Early Bird, General Admission and Event Week (if not sold out prior), and we have one single price for the Kids Course.
  • For a detailed outline of this pricing please head to our Registration Page.

  • No, not every participant needs to have a dog in the Muddy Paws Challenge time waves.
  • You can have a couple, family or group of friends run with one dog, or a few! Our only “rule” is that each individual person cannot have more than one dog run with them.
