Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I GET TO THE SOUTH WEST MUDFEST?

  • Bootleg Brewery is located on Puzey Road, Wilyabrup – approximately a 3 hour drive south of Perth. Have a look on Google Maps for directions on how to get there.

WHERE DO I PARK?

  • Parking will be available in one of the paddocks at Bootleg Brewery, just a short distance from the event village, for a gold coin donation to the RSPCA WA and all the wonderful work they do. If you choose to drive, we recommend carpooling and appointing a skipper in advance. A parking map will be released closer to the event.

HOW WILL THE STARTING WAVES WORK?

  • We have staggered starts to minimise the congestion at obstacles and maximise the fun!
  • Start waves will leave at 10 minute intervals.
  • When you register online you will need to select a start wave time of your preference.
  • If a wave start time is no longer available when you try to register online, it means it has been filled. Waves are allocated on a first in best dressed process.

WILL THERE BE A BAG DROP?

  • Straight after you register, you will be able to drop your valuables (keys, phone and wallet only) at our manned valuables drop for a gold coin donation to local South West sporting clubs.
  • You can then drop your towel and a bag of clean clothes on the shelves in the change rooms.
  • Please note that while we will have security, all items are left in the change rooms at your own risk. Event management takes no responsibility for lost or stolen property.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

  • Prepare to get down and dirty! The South West can experience some fairly wintery weather in July, so be prepared for cold and potentially wet weather. The good news is that you will quickly warm up once out on course!
  • We suggest wearing long sleeved clothes and layering up. Old clothes are the best bet when dealing with mud, don’t wear your Sunday best!
  • We will have a ‘muddy bin’ at the finish line if you would prefer to dispose of your outer layer of clothing once you have completed the course.
  • We require all participants to wear fully enclosed shoes when out on course.
  • Prizes are up for grabs for the best dressed, so be creative!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

  • A copy of your confirmation email so we can scan you in (this can be a printed copy or displayed on your phone).
  • Please remember a towel for the shower, a new set of clothes to change into before you head over to Bootleg and a plastic bag for any dirty clothes that you would like to keep.
  • You will require photo ID in order to be served alcohol.
  • A gold coin for parking and a gold coin for valuables drop.
  • Why not bring an action camera to record your day!

WILL THERE BE SHOWERS?

  • After you cross the finish line, pause for a photo then run straight on in to the hot showers! We will also have a hosing area to wash off your dogs.
  • We don’t want Bootleg brewery covered in mud, so it is compulsory to be clean before you enter the brewery.

WILL THE SOUTH WEST MUDFEST BE TIMED?

  • No, the South West Mudfest is not a timed event. Our stance is that the Mudfest is a challenge, not a race. So don’t be too concerned about speeding around the course, take your time and have fun!
  • If you are running to win it you must be in the 9am Elite wave, the winner will be the first to cross the finish line – results will not be based on official timing.

WILL THERE BE FOOD AVAILABLE?

  • Participants will no longer receive a burger and beer as part of their registration.
  • After receiving feedback from previous years, we have reduced our participation costs for the South West Mudfest but food will be available for purchase in the Event Village and at the Bootleg Brewery restaurant.
  • The restaurant will not be taking bookings for the day of the event, so just pop on in.
  • Please note that you will be required to show photo ID to be served alcohol.

DO I NEED TO SIGN A WAIVER?

  • Yes, registering for the event involves agreeing to our terms and conditions and event policy which you can read here.
  • When registering for the Muddy Paws Challenge you will also be agreeing to our Muddy Paws Challenge Policy.
  • Please note that all children 14 years and under must run the entire course with an accompanied registered guardian and all children from ages 15 to 18 must have a parent guardian waiver signed upon registration.

WILL THERE BE ANY ENTERTAINMENT?

  • We want to create a festival experience to celebrate the love of mud!
  • You can expect a DJ in the Event Village, with a more relaxed acoustic artist and some fun games over at Bootleg Brewery.

CAN MY KIDS RUN?

  • Yes! The 2018 South West Mudfest course has had some changes so that it is more family friendly!
  • This course is for all ages (we strongly recommend 9+ years for children) – we understand no one knows your child better than you, so we ask parents to please use their better judgement when registering their child  and working out whether your child is ready for their first muddy obstacle race!
  • Please note that all children 14 years and under must run the entire course with an accompanied registered guardian and all children from ages 15 to 18 must have a parent guardian waiver signed upon registration.
  • There is also an excellent playground at Bootleg Brewery to keep those youngens entertained. Keep in mind they must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

CAN I REFUND OR TRANSFER MY REGISTRATION?

  • Our event Terms and Conditions that you agreed to upon registering outline our event rules, registration policy, conditions of entry and contingency procedures.
  • We do not offer refunds on registrations however you can transfer your registration to another person by logging back into your Active account here, and altering your current registration.

DOES MY DOG NEED TO BE ON A LEAD?

  • Yes, we require ALL dogs to be on a lead for the entirety of the event, both on the course and in the Event Village. If you arrive without a lead, you will be asked to leave with no offer to refund your registration.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE TIME OF MY WAVE?

  • You can change your wave time by logging back into your Active account.
  • Please note, if a time wave is sold out you won’t be able to transfer into that time wave.
